Training / GPEP
Three and a half to four years on average, with a maximum of five years from the start of GPEP year 2 (excluding time on hold).
Placed by the College in one or two general practices under a GP kaiako and medical educators; seminars and workshops; clinical and written examinations at the end of the year. Salaried under the NZRDA agreement's GPEP scale.
Registrars find and negotiate their own employment with a practice.
Completing any remaining requirements before Fellowship (FRNZCGP).
Leads to the Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP) and vocational registration in general practice — which is on the Green List for residence. The GPEP salary scale →
