Specialists and medical officers are on a single national scale under the ASMS agreement — 15 steps for specialists, 14 for medical and dental officers, advancing a step a year.
The resident-doctor agreement defines a locum and sets a floor. The specialist agreement sets no rate at all. Health NZ has said what it actually pays.
