How pay moves

• House Officer. Placed on the House Officer scale by years of post-graduate service as an RMO. Advances on anniversary of appointment. cl. 12.4.1
• Registrar. Step 1 on appointment to a first Registrar position; relevant prior registrar service, including overseas, may be credited. Up to two years as a Dental House Officer counts as registrar service where the training programme requires both a medical and a dental qualification. Advances on completion of each 12 months' service. No progression beyond Step 5 without a training programme leading to vocational registration in New Zealand. Registrars who translated onto the new scale may be held at Step 6 or 7 instead. cl. 12.4.2, 12.4.3, 12.4.4
• Higher qualification increment. Move to the next step from the first day of the month after the qualification is granted. Five completed years after graduation. cl. 12.3
